EXPERIENCE |
|
April
98 – April 2000 Application Developer With
Visual Basic 5 created an Agent Management system to input company retail
agent’s information into the company database. Created a Shipping Program to fill agent’s
orders for company products, track inventory of company products and point of
sale materials. Created a program to
track and report on agent sales and compute company sales rep
commissions. These programs used
Remote Data Objects technology, which later upgraded to ActiveX data objects
with DSN-less connections when the company upgraded to Visual Basic 6. Took
these programs through three versions as company needs expanded. Using Visual Basic 6 with Designed
the company’s File Transfer Protocol interfaces with major payment outlets
including April
1999 – April 2003 Database Administrator / Application Developer The
original company databases were in Access 97.
Upgraded the Access database to SQL Server 6.5. Installed, configured and set up security
for the company database servers.
Managed logins, users, and groups for the company using SQL and
Enterprise Manager. Did several case
studies and then redesigned the entire company database using sound database
design principles. Recreated all
tables to at least 3rd normal form. Using Transact SQL then developed an
extensive stored procedure library, custom user defined datatypes, triggers
and views for application developers to use when accessing the database(s). Used Visio and SQL Server 7 tools to assist
in conceptual and physical design. All
DDL was done with TSQL Scripts created in the query window or notepad. The
company’s billing data from the major carriers came to the company on CD Rom
discs in a variety of formats, including Magnetic tape data in the CABS/EMI
billing formats, Sybase embedded, FoxPro and text. Created databases to store the data and
using Visual Basic, Using
Transact SQL and scheduled tasks built an Automated Customer Account
Processing system. This system
evaluated customer accounts daily and adjusted customer all billing
data. The system also output a daily
CSV for output to the printer for customer billing statements. Implemented
warm server backup to insure 24/7 operation.
The system has run for three years with little to no downtime for
other than routine maintenance and restart.
Researched and developed company plan for disaster recovery to include
offsite storage of company backups. Modeled,
developed, and deployed DSS mini data mart to enable support for complex
reporting of company key factors. Using
ASP, Javascript, VBScript, and DHTML built several thin client applets for
intranet access to company databases again relying heavily upon the stored
procedure library previously developed. Assisted
the IT team on numerous other data-centric development projects including
building the stored procedures to the company’s inbound and outbound IVR
systems. Assisted
the network administrator when network problems became an issue. Developed several special needs, short
lived, MS Access front-end applications to the database servers as necessary
for company reporting and other business requirements. Built
